Good evening!
Everything is going really well with the girls. We went to the eye specialist last Thursday and both girls had their eyes checked to see if they were maturing properly. Brienna's eyes had fully matured and she doesn't need to go back for another 6 months. So, that is really good news. Brooklyn's eyes were "a couple weeks behind" Brienna's, so she will be going back for a follow-up appointment in 4-5 weeks. He wasn't concerned about any long term effects and thought that everything would be fine, but he wanted to re-check to be sure that they had finished maturing. So, all in all, it was a pretty good day!
On Friday, we went in for another appointment with the kids' doctor in Brookings. Again, everything looked good. Brienna weighed 6 lb 8 oz and Brooklyn weighed 6 lb 15 oz. Both girls are growing really well and seem to stay right on pace with eachother-with Brooklyn being consistently 6-8 oz heavier than Brienna.
Brooklyn had a couple more apnea spells over the past week, but nothing too serious. Each time, the monitor only beeps once or twice before she corrects her breathing on her own with little or no intervention from us.
The girls are eating every 3.5 hours during the day and about every 4-4.5 hours during the night, which allows us to get a few hours of solid sleep at a time. So, things are going really well and we're starting to get into a "normal" routine with things, which is really nice!
Have a good week!
